thinkingParticles introduces a new additional license model, the
SIM-License. This simulation-only license allows you to batch simulate
multiple thinkingParticles scenes in one go without using up a full thinkingParticles
license. Extra simulation licenses can be ordered at any time from the
cebas online store at:www.cebas.com
By default, one simulation license comes with every full thinkingParticles
version. Setting up a batch rendering process is pretty simple and straight
forward. One sample file, explaining a possible batch simulation use,
was installed with thinkingParticles.
The file is called :TP_scriptedCacheRecord_sample.ms
This file was kindly supplied by Ari Sachter-Zeltzer and is very simple
and easy to understand and can be used either "as is" or with
a few modifications. By default, the script saves the finished cache files
in the same folder as the 3ds Max file resides in. If you do not wish
to have this behavior adjust the script to your liking, it is well commented.
Important
thinkingParticles saves along with every cache a standard material
library that corresponds to the cache file. This functionality does
not work when 3ds Max is in batch or slave mode - the written
material library file is defect. This is an error in 3ds Max and can
not be avoided. To get the proper cache material afterwards you need
to use the right click Save Material method shown HERE
